1860’s Living Historian

Augusta, Georgia

·        Born and reared in Laurens, SC (Carolina Girl!)

·        Lived in Augusta since 1978

·        Received B.S. and M.Ed. in Home Economics Education at UGA

·        Received Ed. Specialist Degree at Augusta College (1995)

·        Employed (21 years) at Augusta Tech, currently serving as Disability Counselor and Testing Coordinator

·        Member of Berry Benson Chapter of UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy) since 1991

·        Member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Chapter in Laurens, SC since 1995

·        Fundamental in establishing the Palmetto Soldiers Relief Society in 1992 and served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and then President for 2 years (The PSRS is the Ladies’ counterpart to the Reenactors group in SC-The Palmetto Battalion.)

·        Re-enactor/Living Historian since 1989 (former member of the 10th GA Volunteers, the 13th SC Volunteers)

·        Presented numerous 1860’s Fashion Shows

·        Numerous lectures on roles of Victorian Women, Women Soldiers, Victorian Mourning Practices, Period Clothing for Children, Men and Women, Children’s Toys, and other topics

·        Coordinator for National 1860’s Education Conference held in Alabama in 1997
