A reception was held on Friday evening. Refreshments and decorations
were furnished by the OCR. Stan Clardy was featured. The Wild Rose OCR
manned the registration tables Friday evening and Saturday.
The Opening Ceremony was highlighted by the huge Confederate Flag, as
seen in the photos. The SCV Awards Luncheon offered good food and
fellowship, as well as a chance to see which SCV camps had been most
active during the past year.
Thanks to all the of the chapters and members who obtained or donated
items for Door Prizes. Who won the $50 gift certificate to Dillard's?
Bee Camp Commander Danny Francis brought greetings to the OCR. ANV
Commander Russell Darden gave us a report on Mrs. Alberta Martin, the LAST
living Confederate Widow. Each chapter had the opportunity to report about
their activities.
The OCR speakers were Lee Bryant, one of the Black Rose Keepers of the
Rite, and Pat Blitch, president of the Palmetto Soldiers Relief Society
(PSRS). Unfortunately, the SCV luncheon and meetings ran late and the
speakers were unable to offer a complete program. SCOCR hopes to put the
program about mourning clothing online in the near future.
